Student Admission Notice:
Students will be accepted on a priority basis according to their Fire Department or EMS System affiliation
  • Active members of a fire department or government-based EMS system will be given priority admission consideration
  • Non fire department applicants, those affiliated with a private EMS or ambulance company and others, are accepted on a "space available" basis
 
     
 
EMT-Basic
130 hours (Approximately 4 months); Monday and Wednesday evenings 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
 
Class Start Date(s):
  • New class starts March 4, 2009
Admission requirements:
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License
  • Valid High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Satisfactory physical exam completed within the past year
  • Payment of tuition no later than the first scheduled day of class
Application/Enrollment:
  • Qualified applicants must complete an application and submit valid copies of your Ohio driver’s license and high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • A $10 application fee must be submitted with the required documents. All items, including the application, copies of required documents and application fee, must be received in the EMS Education office at least 14 days prior to the first scheduled day of class. Effective July 1, 2008, if all items are not received at least 14 days prior to the first scheduled day of class, the applicant must pay an additional $10 late fee. Application and late fees may be paid by a money order or  cashier's check made payable to Grant EMS Education.

Course Completion Requirements:
  • Upon successful completion of all requirements, including class attendance, assignments, and examinations, field-based clinical rotations, hospital-based clinical rotations, and any other student/class requirements, the student may be eligible to sit for the Ohio EMS Certification Exam (National Registry).
 
     
 
EMT-Basic Refresher
30 hours; Monday and Wednesday evenings 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
 
Class Schedule:
  • Classes will be held in conjunction with the EMT Basic course
  • Refresher students will attend only those classes approved for refresher certification
Admission requirements:
  • Current Ohio EMT-Basic Certification
  • Payment of tuition or payment plan approval no later than the first day of class

Advanced Airway Course for Ohio Reciprocity
for those seeking Ohio EMT-B reciprocity; 12 hours
 
Eligible out-of-state EMTs that need to complete the Ohio Division of EMS Advanced Airway Course requirement may attend portions of the EMT-Basic course to meet the Ohio reciprocity requirement. For more information, contact EMS Education.
